Overview
AssistedLiving.org is a senior care resource and provider search platform, built on Next.js 16 and React 19. I was the main developer on it, at SilverAssist.
The code follows Domain-Driven Design: each domain (search, listings, leads and content) owns its components, types, server actions and tests. That is what keeps a large content site maintainable as it grows.
The challenge
The core of the site is a geo-search that has to feel instant and be correct, on top of editorial content that has to stay easy to publish. It also has to collect leads through forms that can change provider without rewriting the pages that use them.
Key features
- A directory tool on every state page: a search by city, state or zip and filters for finance options, property information, amenities, health services and activities.
- Geo-search with location autocomplete and filters, querying a listings REST API on the server.
- Editorial content from a headless WordPress GraphQL backend, next to the search.
- Lead capture on a pluggable form provider architecture, with Zod-validated Server Actions.
- One folder per domain, with its own tests.
Technologies used
- Front end: Next.js 16, React 19, Server Components, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS.
- Data: a listings REST API and headless WordPress with GraphQL.
- Validation and forms: Zod, Server Actions.
